From Canberra to the Coast, experienced agent Michael Fay’s choice for a sea change looks like being a big winner for local buyers and sellers.
Michael has recently taken a position as a sales consultant at Henzells, bringing a wealth of high-end experience negotiating prestige sales in the nation’s capital.
“I have always enjoyed meeting and helping people, and have had an interest in real estate from a very young age. Helping people with what will likely be the biggest financial decision in their lives is very rewarding,’’ Michael said.
Michael said he was looking forward to applying his skills locally – where the warm weather and beaches are a welcome change.
“I love the Sunshine Coast lifestyle of living near the beaches, and really enjoy the friendly nature of people here. Taking our little dog to the beach and letting her explore and play with the other dogs. I love meeting and chatting with locals and I really like exploring the local cafe scene,’’ he said.
Prior to joining Henzells, Michael worked for one of Canberra’s leading agencies with nine offices and a staff of 90, where he brokered a number of record sales for the region.
“I think helping to overcome some of the challenges that both vendors and buyers face is so rewarding. I remember one buyer was looking for a very specific type of property, suitable to set up a runway for his light plane, but had had trouble finding the right property." “I went searching on maps for areas that might suit, and rang or knocked on doors for every property in those areas. As it turns out, one of the property owners did want to sell, and I negotiated a very good deal for both the vendor and the buyer off market,’’ he said.
Michael also recently negotiated a record sale for a vendor, $185k over the previous suburb record, and sold a two-bedroom cottage on the outskirts of a rural town for $2.7m.
“I was also involved in the building industry for over a decade, and then in the hardware industry, so have a unique perspective of homes, and can advise on any changes or renovations that might add value to a sale. I also managed a rural outlet for 20 years, so have an intimate knowledge of all aspects of rural property,’’ he said.
Michael has a history of buying and selling real estate for over 30 years and has undertaken his own development projects including a block of shops and a 17-lot subdivision.
“I can speak first hand to anybody wishing to undertake this path,’’ he said.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys hitting the gym and running.
We welcome Michael to the Henzells team and know he will be a valuable asset to our clients and team.
