For those who aren’t already aware, important changes to Queensland rental laws are currently being phased in, which will impact on landlords and tenants alike.

After a lengthy consultation period, the Queensland Government’s Housing Legislation Amendment Bill became law in October last year. The first change was to provide options for people experiencing domestic and family violence to end a tenancy, which became effective immediately. Other reforms will also be rolled out over the next three years.

The new laws amend the grounds for ending tenancies, make it easier for renters to keep pets and establish minimum standards for rental properties. You can find out more in detail here.
