Henzells staff united today over the important issue of child safety with a special morning tea fundraiser commemorating the Day for Daniel.

Day for Daniel is a National Day of Action hosted by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation (DMF) to raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm prevention.

Held on the last Friday of October each year, it is about educating children and adults about keeping kids safe through child safety and protection initiatives.

Our team baked special treats and donated kindly for this year’s event which focused on brave conversations.

Parents, carers, and educators are being encouraged to start a conversation with children and young people about personal safety.

The objectives of Day for Daniel are:

  • to raise awareness about child safety and protection and to promote a safer community for children.
  • to educate children regarding their personal safety and empower them to “recognise, react and report”.
  • to provide free safety and educational material.
  • to honour the memory of Daniel Morcombe.
  • to raise funds to enable DMF to produce new research and evidence-based resources

We were delighted to support in our own small way this worthy cause which very much aligns with the ‘locals supporting locals’ ethos at Henzells Agency.

The past year we have also donated time, money and support to organisations including R U Okay Day, Australians Biggest Morning Tea, the Blue Heart Campaign and our own Henzells Heroes initiative recognising the community’s quiet achievers, not to mention the long list of sports clubs and other groups we sponsor.

It is always a great privilege to do so as a way of giving back to the community which means so much to us.
