It’s that fantastic time of year again when thousands of people come to Caloundra and enjoy a long weekend of music surrounded by sun, surf and sand. This year Caloundra Music Festival is celebrating a 10 year anniversary with the hope of many more to come!
Caloundra Music Festival this year celebrates with 80 bands spread over 5 stages throughout the heart of Kings Beach for four days of fun but the size is not even the most impressive thing about CMF! The CMF organisers and crew have taken some great initiatives to ensure this is a sustainable festival and has a focus on keeping it green!
Their BYO H2O Bottle campaign is certainly one to be applauded; the green focused festival encourages all festival goers to bring their own reusable water bottle which can be filled up at multiple stations throughout the festival at the UnityWater Hydration Stations for free! As part of this campaign CMF will not be selling plastic water bottles however stainless steel quality reusable bottles will be available to purchase. This is a brilliant initiative to reduced rubbish and the waste of plastic water bottles in the after math of the festival and has been recognised and appreciated by conservation companies such as Reef Check Australia, ACF and the Australian Marine Conservation Society.
Another part of Caloundra Music Festivals green initiative includes Vark Valet! Vark Valet is a free bike valet service provided to all festival goers who ride to the festival, all you need to do is check your bike in and collect it between 11:30am and 11pm and it will be safely secured whilst you enjoy the festival. To encourage and appreciate festival goers who ride, if you arrive between 12pm and 2pm you will also receive a FREE bike safety check. Alongside the Bikers are Cool campaigns CMF will also have courtesy shuttle buses running to and from the festival regularly to minimise the carbon footprint and provide a safe and accessible festival to all who attend.
Another focus of Caloundra Music Festivals keeping it green and sustainability initiative is ensuring all vendors are required to use bio-degradable corn-starch, paper, wood or cloth carry bags, cutlery, plates, straws etc with absolutely no plastic allowed! Recycling bins will be excitedly decorated throughout the festival ensuring they catch your eye and finally the newest additions will be the Waste Warriors situated around the festival with plenty of knowledge and direction to ensure Caloundra Music Festival is as green focused, eco-friendly and sustainable as possible.
The focus and dedication Caloundra Music Festival devotes to creating a sustainable festival is creating a benchmark for future festivals and community events for a cleaner and greener Caloundra.
