Charity Golf Day on Course for Big Target
Our biggest fundraising event of the year is just around the corner, with high hopes of reaching our best figure yet to help kids in need.
The Henzells Pelican Waters Foundation Charity Golf and Long Lunch Classic on September 13 is on course to fetch $30,000 for local charity Smart Pups which provides assistance dogs to children with special needs.
With a huge field already registered, the Foundation is off to a great start towards reaching the target figure – about the amount it costs for Smart Pups to raise, train and place an assistance dog to become a permanent addition to a recipient child’s family.
Each year we are overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community and the long-time supportive business network that gets behind the Foundation so we can help those who need it most. We would especially like to thank our major sponsors Caloundra City Auto and ANZ for their wonderful support.
We are looking forward to a great day and hopefully raising plenty more money to help this hard-working not-for-profit charity make a positive difference to the life of a special needs child and their family.
Highly trained in task-specific skills, Smart Pups improve children’s independence, confidence, self-esteem, health, safety, social interaction and quality of life. This unique form of early intervention therapy has a profound effect on the day-to-day lives of children and families, making a positive change that keeps growing for life.
The Sunshine Coast based organisation trains a range of service dogs including autism dogs, seizure response dogs and multipurpose assistance dogs to assist young people from the age of three and up with the handling or day-to-day routines and events.
The 2019 event will feature a fun day of golf at the Greg Norman designed Pelican Waters course followed by a charity long lunch at The Sebel including huge auction and entertainment from Australia’s first Winter Olympic Gold Medallist, motivator and entertainer Steven Bradbury.
Henzells Agency and Pelican Waters has a proud history of donating funds and land to charities, sporting clubs, individuals and families in need.
In 2010, Henzells Agency and Pelican Waters established the Foundation to support local charities and families who do not receive government support. Since then the Foundation has donated in excess of $260,000 through a variety of mediums with the annual golf and long lunch classic being a significant contributor.
Recently the Foundation donated $2750 to Daniel’s Race for a Cure supporting families dealing with osteosarcoma and metastatic cancers, plus $2500 to the Pyjama Foundation which offers learning based assistance for local kids in foster care.
This is in addition to the $20,000 given late last year to Montrose Therapy and Respite Services in order for them to continue their outstanding work in providing vital services to Queenslanders with a disability and their families.
We are proud of the strong bonds we have forged over our 84 year history in Caloundra, and the difference we have been able to make in this great community.
