The who’s who of Caloundra and beyond stepped out in style for our charity movie night recently, where community spirit stole the show.
It was great to see the community out in force, supporting the fundraising event for Dove Cottage and we thank everybody for getting behind this great cause.
Special mention must also go to Green Earth Homes for their sponsorship of the night, which raised $2,500 for the Caloundra palliative care group. The money will be used for a music therapist to help people living with a life limiting illness, which we think is a wonderful investment!
The feedback from the event was outstanding, with this testimonial from Janette and Trevor Tomkins summing up the mood: ‘A huge thank you to all involved in organising the Oceans 8 movie fundraiser for Dove Cottage at Caloundra Cinema. We thoroughly enjoyed the movie, bubbles and food and very much appreciate your fundraising efforts for a deserving cause.’
It was a great pleasure for us and part of our long-standing commitment to helping people from all walks of life reach their full potential through the support of worthy local charities.
The movie night follows a recent presentation to Talara Primary College of more than $1500 in funds raised from our Easter raffle, bringing our total sum of donations to the school to over $3000 for the year.
And don’t forget about our big Rugby Home Day coming up in a few weeks, raising funds for the Black Dog Institute which is dedicated to understanding, preventing and treating mental illness.
Come along, cheer from the sidelines and be in the mix to win a team jersey when the local side takes on Sunshine Coast University at Lighthouse Park, Arthur Street Caloundra, on July 21.
