From the salon to the surf - for leading local agent Clare Thompson the choice of a family lifestyle change has brought waves of contentment and success.

Fast approaching her eighth year at Henzells Agency, the former hairdresser said she could not be happier living and working on the southern Sunshine Coast.

“It has been an amazing experience. When I started at Henzells our daughter Maddi had just celebrated her second birthday. I was new to the industry and new to the Coast. I like to think of myself as a loyal person and Henzells has looked after me, I feel very fortunate,’’ Clare said.

Prior to joining Henzells, Clare was a hairdresser for 17 years including 10 years as owner-operator of a successful salon in Bundaberg. She later worked in construction on Curtis Island and as a stay-at-home mum before moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2015.

“I think my experience as a hairdresser helped me in real estate. Both require good listening skills, building trust and communication, they go hand in hand.”

Clare and her husband Adam bought and sold properties before settling on their “forever home” in Battery Hill in 2022, where Maddi now walks to school, and the joys of Currimundi Lake and fabulous beaches are right on the doorstep.

“My husband Adam and I moved here when our daughter was one year old, purely for a lifestyle change. Adam travels for work a lot so it was important to be close to the airport, and still have that work-life balance.

“For a long while the Sunshine Coast was always about Noosa, Maroochydore and Mooloolaba, but there was something about the southern end that we found more appealing.

“It is a hidden gem down this end with great family atmosphere, affordability and lifestyle,’’ Clare said.

Since joining forces with fellow Henzells agent Brittany McCurdy in 2018, the pair have sold hundreds of properties in Kings Beach and surrounds, drawing glowing testimonials from buyers and sellers alike and winning multiple individual and team awards.

When not at work, Clare values family time including walks on the beach with her beloved British Bulldogs Frank and Bruce often tagging along.

Camping is another passion, with the family gearing up for a big five-week caravan adventure to The Cape in June.

“It has been 12 months in the planning. We are really looking forward to spending time together as a family, getting away from phones and technology, and being present,’’ Clare said.
