Henzells Agency was one of the shining lights at the recent 2023 Sunshine Coast Community Gala, winning the Social Commitment Award ahead of a first-class field.
The Sunshine Coast Social Commitment Award acknowledges the services, efforts, actions, and positive input provided by volunteers, carers, businesses, organisations, and health professionals.
The finalists were recognised for creating a sense of community spirit and a pathway for individuals to achieve a sense of belonging in the local community.
We are immensely proud to be 2023 winners of this prestigious award given the strength of the other nominees, who all do such an amazing job enhancing the quality of life of those who depend on them.
With the other finalists being charities who perform their important work full time, Henzells took top honours despite our main business being real estate. Our social commitment endeavours are something we do as extra, because we care.
While accolades are certainly appreciated, our primary motivation lies in effecting positive change and leaving a lasting impact. Recognition has never been a driving force at Henzells, rather our responsibility centres on creating a meaningful difference for those we help.
Organisations and individuals assisted by Henzells throughout the year are wide and varied. Some of the beneficiaries include YouTurn Youth Support (who was also nominated in our category), The Daniel Morcombe Foundation, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Give Me 5 for Kids, our own Henzells Heroes campaign recognising the Coast’s quiet achievers and a long list of sporting, educational and community organisations.
It’s never about just handing over a cheque or a photo opportunity. Our dedicated staff actively engage with organisations and participate in a wide range of activities outside their regular jobs to help those in need.
We aren’t satisfied with merely contributing funds, but willingly roll our sleeves up to organise the raffles, sell the tickets, run the events, fire up the barbecues and serve the food.
A deep sense of community has been ingrained in our organisation for over 88 years. Feeling part of something bigger than ourselves fosters a sense of belonging and immense pride to be actively involved in our community’s progress.
For us, strengthening the community is its own reward.
