A bumper events program is proving a major winner for Caloundra tourism, with Henzells playing a hands-on role.
Henzells Holiday Team Leader Danielle Smithson has jumped on board with the tourism sub-committee for the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce aimed at driving “brand Caloundra” and maximising visitation to the region.
With 140-plus rental properties across the southern Sunshine Coast on its books, Henzells’ holiday rental business Accom Caloundra is in a unique position to provide feedback on visitors’ experiences and expectations.
“We are able to provide the committee with a good overview on what guests want, what they enjoy and perhaps what they feel could be done better.
“We put forward thoughts and ideas on how to draw more people to the region through the promotion of quality events – it’s about keeping Caloundra on the map and top of mind for potential visitors,’’ she said.
Here’s a small taste of some of the major Caloundra events coming up, starting with next week’s car and hot-rod spectacular Downunder Beachfest.
The Downunder Beachfest celebrates the hot rod and classic car lifestyle by bringing five days of cruising the Sunshine Coast and the nearby Hinterland. The event includes show ‘n’ shine displays in Bulcock Street, Caloundra where the community can come and check out some of these four wheel classics. Bulcock Street will be home to the Downunder Beachfest Street Party on Thursday 8 June from 6:30pm - 9:30pm. Don't miss out of this great event for all ages from 7-11 June.
The Caloundra Music Festival from 29 September to 2 October offers four days of sun, surf and soul. Beautiful Kings Beach and surrounds will come alive to the sounds of a diverse line-up of entertainment featuring the best of the Australian music industry as well as incredible international artists. This not for profit family-friendly community event celebrates the environment, cultural achievements and community pride of the Caloundra area.
The Caloundra Chamber of Commerce is set to turn up the heat in downtown Caloundra with the launch of the Ignite Chilli Festival on 25 November. Downtown Caloundra will play host to an exciting day of cooking demonstrations, info tents, live entertainment, street food and many unique stalls offering products with a twist of chilli. This inaugural event builds on the chilli eating competition that has been held for the last two years in Caloundra and is the first food festival in Caloundra for everyone to enjoy.
