A huge congratulations to Iain Simms who is celebrating his 10-year anniversary at Henzells. It’s one thing to dedicate yourself to a job for a decade, but to achieve the milestone with the same level of consistent success as Iain truly is a remarkable achievement.
Since joining Henzells in 2013, Iain has amassed an incredible 287 sales for a combined $217 million and won Sales Agent of the Year eight times in a row!
And while there have been plenty of marquee sales along the way, it is not always the highest price tags that bring the highest rewards for the former IT professional turned real-estate gun.
One of the career highlights for Iain to date has been facilitating the sale of a Taylor Avenue, Golden Beach home at the onset of the Covid period where the elderly owner needed to go into care following the death of her partner.
“We staged two open homes which attracted 50 groups and 17 offers. The property sold for $850,000, more than $200,000 above a private offer they had received and were seriously considering,” Iain said.
“The family were extremely happy with the result and for me, it’s those types of sales that reinforce the joy of meeting people and helping them in their time of need,’’ he said.
There have been several headline-grabbing sales for Iain along the way including 37 Warne Terrace, described as arguably Australia’s best beach block, which sold last year for $7.9 million setting a new record for the 4551 postcode.
19 Queen of Colonies Parade, one of Caloundra’s original beach homes occupying the highest point in Moffat Beach, was another crowning achievement selling for $5.72 million.
“I believe that being patient is so important if you want success in this industry. Sometimes people want to come onto the market straight away, sometimes it could be three weeks or three months before they are ready. It’s about getting the timing right, consistency and playing the long game,’’ Iain said.
“The majority of my sales come from referrals and repeat business and if you’re doing the wrong thing, that is not going to happen.”
Rather than hogging the limelight, Iain is at his happiest helping the community. He is a long-time supporter of the Golden Beach State School, raising thousands of dollars over the years through an annual Easter raffle, and this year is donating $500 each month to one of his seller’s nominated charities.
With ten years seeming like an eternity for an agent to stay in the same job in the current market, for Iain it’s the easy-going atmosphere and great support at Henzells that makes time fly.
“There’s a great team around you, and a lot of flexibility in the workplace. It’s the kind of environment where you can bring your kids in and they can give you a hand with letterbox drops,’’ he said.
Outside of work Iain enjoys taking care of his acreage property, spending time with his family, mountain biking and staying active with his two border collie Labrador crosses.
Thanks for a great 10 years Iain and here’s to many more!
