A big thank you to all of our wonderful property owners for putting safety first in embracing important new smoke alarm legislation, which will be effective from 1 January 2022.
The response has been incredibly encouraging with 96% of landlords on our books already making their rental properties compliant with the new measures. With more than 300,000 investment properties in Queensland all needing to abide by the new laws, Henzells took a proactive approach to ensure as many of our landlords as possible were compliant well before the deadline.
We have been campaigning on the issue for more than 18 months and the subsequent uptake has been amongst the best in Queensland, meaning peace of mind for property owners and, most importantly, the safest homes possible for tenants.
If your property is being managed by someone else, ask yourself whether you received this level of communication in regards to the smoke alarm laws. If not, we would love to hear from you. You might wish to consider joining our long list of happy clients!
Property investment can be a complex undertaking with ever-changing legislation, trends and technologies, making it vitally important to have the right property management team in place.
Henzells staff have the expertise, specialist training and proven processes bedded down over many decades of successful operation to ensure a stress-free experience for owners and tenants alike.
Guiding our landlords though the new smoke alarm requirements is just one example of how we can take the headache out of home ownership, utilising our industry knowledge and insights to head off potential problems before they arise.
For those who are not already aware, from 1 January 2022 at the commencement of a new lease or lease renewal, landlords must ensure their dwelling meets the requirements of the domestic smoke alarm legislation. This may involve installing interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms into the bedrooms in addition to the currently required smoke alarms.
