Kings Reigns As Unit Hotspot!
Kings Beach has emerged as one of the Sunshine Coast’s brightest property hotspots with sales almost doubling 2019 levels! Area specialist, Clare Thompson, said the beachside suburb has found new levels of popularity since the end of the financial year, with buyers motivated by family and lifestyle factors in the midst of the pandemic.
The last three months have produced 13 apartment sales totalling over $8 million for Henzells Agency, compared to the corresponding period last year of 9 sales for approximately $4.5 million.
“Once COVID-19 hit there was some uncertainty for a couple of months and then things really started taking off. The prices are strong and they’re holding.’’ Clare said.
“We have a lot of Brisbane people coming up and purchasing weekenders and, more often than not, they’re buying at asking price with not a lot of negotiation. Most units are on the market for an average of two weeks, some are snapped up straight away.’’
One such example was the recent sale of a walk-up two-bedroom, one bathroom unit in a small complex on the Bulcock Beach Esplanade, which sold to a Brisbane buyer for a record $646,000, well over the asking price. The top floor unit attracted 3 offers and 15 groups at its first open home, some 5,000 online views and more than 100 enquiries.
Clare mentioned that “The experience appears to be that COVID-19 has changed people’s perspective about the importance of lifestyle. They are no longer taking expensive overseas holidays and, while interest rates are low, people are putting their super into a relaxed lifestyle and family.”
