From country Victoria to Caloundra with plenty of conversation along the way, Michele Kelly’s arrival at Henzells in 2015 has been a major win for the agency, where her work ethic says it all.
Never one to let the opportunity for a good chat pass her by, Michele’s casual down-to-earth demeanour is balanced with a passion for customer service and a professional attitude that always ensures the best outcomes for our holiday guests.
Originally from Wangaratta in northeast Victoria, Michele headed to the bright lights of Melbourne after finishing school to study hospitality management.
She put her skills to use landing senior positions in restaurants, clubs and bars in Victoria and upon first moving to Queensland in 2005, where she would meet her future husband, Rob.
Michele worked for an extended period at the Caloundra RSL when a return to Melbourne beckoned and she took a position as a reservations consultant for Accor Group in a busy city hotel.
The warm Caloundra sunshine was too hard to resist and the couple relocated on the Coast in 2015, married, bought a house at Aroona and gave birth to beautiful Molly, now three and a half.
“I started in reservations straight away with Henzells which was a perfect fit having just come from Accor,’’ Michele said.
“It is a very rewarding job but it is relentless at times, particularly during the COVID period. The reservations team is so close, like family, which really helps. There’s a great environment inside the office,’’ she said.
Michele thrives in the team environment at Accom Caloundra. While no two days are exactly the same, her schedule includes liaising with current and potential guests, booking holidays, organising property maintenance, inspections, invoicing and more.
Helping to successfully steer the business through the highly challenging COVID restrictions and winning the 2017 Judy Henzell Award for property management excellence are amongst Michele’s proudest achievements.
Outside of work she is kept pleasantly busy being a mum, enjoying good food and wine, listening to music especially The Living End, barracking for her beloved Hawks in the AFL and chasing after Keith, the kelpie-border-collie-cross.
