The Kawana hospital precinct and a strong pipeline of other major employment-generating projects across the Sunshine Coast have delivered a healthy dose of confidence for the region, transforming it into one of Queensland’s most exciting residential and investment hotspots.
There has been positive focus on the northern Caloundra suburbs and Kawana, in particular, as the regions economic and social future is transformed through the nation’s largest investment in health infrastructure.
More than $3 billion is being channelled into the project, which will comprise a purpose-built 17 hectare health hub and hospital precinct consisting of allied health services, specialist hospital facilities, research, accommodation and education centres taking shape over the coming years.
Supportive infrastructure development also includes a hotel, multi deck carpark, aged health care project and early learning centre.
Described by Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson as a “game changer” for the region, it has been estimated that the precinct will provide around 12,000 ongoing jobs and contribute $828 million to the annual economy on completion in 2021.
Hundreds of new families have started arriving in the area to take advantage of the jobs boom created by construction and the ongoing provision of services, further driving up demand for residential homes, rental and investment properties.
