The term ‘going the extra yard’ takes on a whole new meaning for Henzells agent Michael Fay.
When he is not bending over backwards for clients, he is busting out the kilometres in preparation for an upcoming assault on the iconic Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea. Either way, Michael takes it all in his stride.
Formerly from Canberra, Michael has been a valuable member of the Henzells team for 14 months, specialising in the regions of Aura, Caloundra West and Little Mountain.
Prior to joining Henzells, Michael worked for one of the ACT’s leading agencies with nine offices and a staff of 90, where he brokered several record sales for the region.
He has carried the momentum with him to the Sunshine Coast where he completed an impressive 19 sales in his first year despite coming off a zero base with no networks or contacts.
Michael made a point of immersing himself in the local community, having regular coffees with the Chamber of Commerce and various businesses, and sharing updates on social media.
“I was also lucky to come into such a supportive environment with Henzells who have looked after me and given me the resources to do my job,’’ he said.
Michael has had many highlights at his time with Henzells, and rates helping people as his biggest motivator.
His expertise recently earned sellers several hundreds of thousands of dollars above their expected price when he advised them to strata title a pair of duplexes and sell them individually rather than as one lot, and successfully guided them through the process.
“Every day is different in real estate; it is not your normal nine to five. I like the emotional connection that comes with helping people at such an important and often pivotal time in their lives,’’ he said.
Outside of work Michael is busy training for Kokoda in May and (if that wasn’t enough!) running 50km a week in preparation for a half marathon on the Gold Coast in July.
“I have always enjoyed physical challenges and keeping fit; I was a competitive runner when I was younger. Now that my family has grown up and I have a little more extra time on my hands and with a supportive partner, I’m getting back into it,’’ he said.
