A state-of-the-art public lighting installation and the official opening of the Events Centre redevelopment have put the spotlight on Caloundra as a premium destination to live, work and play.
In Sunshine Coast Regional Council announcements this week, a region-first light installation will soon brighten up Caloundra, making it the final component of the Stage 3 Bulcock Street streetscape upgrade.
The Events Centre Caloundra enhanced its standing as one of the largest function and performance venues on the Sunshine Coast following the completion of an $8 million redevelopment.
The improvement of the 40 year old venue includes acoustic upgrades, new sound and lighting equipment, new lift, landscaping and improvements to bars, the café, foyer, box office and main theatre.
The curtains lifting on the new-look Events Centre is another major win for the southern Sunshine Coast, certain to bring economic and community benefits through the attraction of quality events and performances.
The Caloundra brand continues to grow in stature as a leading Australian tourist and lifestyle destination as well as a business, investment and employment hub.
The multi-stage Bulcock Street Streetscape project has helped breathe new life into the heart of Caloundra where growing confidence is driving strong lease activity for our commercial team.
The project is enhancing the look and experience of the area through tree planting, gardens, street furniture, shade features, new footpaths, pedestrian crossings and more.
Next on the agenda is a bespoke 60 lineal metre canopy of LED lights that will weave across and along Bulcock Street. The installation will also be used to display event banners, artistic works and Christmas decorations.
Council says works will begin on the decorative lighting after the Easter School holiday period with a combination of night and day works, starting on April 20 and estimated to be complete by June 30.
