Suburb Profile

When it comes to living the ultimate coastal lifestyle, Kings Beach is one of the jewels in the crown.

From the blue-chip properties of Edmund Street, Saltair Street and Canberra Terrace with their captivating views and cooling sea breezes to low maintenance apartments just a short stroll from the surf, real estate Kings Beach offers a smorgasbord of opportunities for property lovers and astute investors.

Kings Beach has long been one of the best loved beach communities at Henzells Caloundra, for the generations of holidaymakers who return to its sunny shores each year and the couples and families who have made it their home.

Kings Beach Qld was named after the King family, the first residents in the area. After living at Moffat Head in James Moffat’s home for a while, they moved to the Kings Beach area in 1893.

Part of Kalowendah Country in Aboriginal culture, Kings Beach and surrounds were first settled by European graziers and farmers in the 1860s. Through the 1900s it became popular as a seaside resort, with significant residential and commercial development beginning in the 1960s and expanding rapidly through the 1980s to reach the vibrant mix of residential homes, apartments, resorts, cafes, restaurants and open space we know today.

Kings is home to one of Queensland’s finest patrolled beaches and an ocean-front saltwater swimming pool which offers plenty of character as well as a great place to cool off. The tidal rockpools, interactive water fountains at Kings Beach Park, a beautiful boardwalk, walking and cycling tracks, outdoor exercise equipment and other recreational facilities add to its appeal.
Surprising affordability levels and huge lifestyle advantages make real estate Kings Beach one of the most sought-after markets on the Sunshine Coast.

With a beautiful patrolled beach nestled behind a protective headland, vibrant café scene, interactive parklands and a splash of maritime history, Kings Beach rules as one of Caloundra’s leading attractions.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Kings Beach has been previously ranked as the top beach in Queensland by the state’s surf lifesaving body, for its overall safety and family-friendly attributes.

Patrolled 365 days a year, it is a wonderful beach for a quick swim or a relaxing day trip with the family.

Casting a careful eye over Kings Beach is the popular Metropolitan Caloundra Surf Club. Established in 1933, the club’s wonderful volunteers help ensure the safest environment possible for the 120,000 surfers and swimmers who flock to the area each patrol season.

Steeped in history, the beach is also home to heritage listed buildings including the iconic Kings Beach Bathing Pavilion dating back to the 1930s and the Caloundra Lighthouses, comprising the town’s oldest surviving structure which was protecting seafarers as far back as 1896.

After a day spent basking in the sun, there is plenty to tempt the tastebuds in Kings Beach with its thriving cafes, cool bars and laid-back eateries serving everything from fresh fish and chips to gourmet cuisine.
