Phil holds a New Zealand Certificate in Engineering 1980, and was born in Liverpool, England and spent the first 14 years of his life there before moving to New Zealand in 1974 and to Australia in 1987.
Based in New Zealand for the first ten years of his career, he was involved in World Bank, Asian Development Bank and Australian Aid Projects including long term projects in countries such as Papua New Guinea, Western Samoa, Malaysia and Belize, Central America. Responsibilities were diverse, including reconnaissance and survey through untracked jungle in Borneo, road rehabilitation in nine areas of Papua New Guinea and writing a Road Design Manual for the Western Samoa Government. Whilst working in Central America, he established a soil testing laboratory and trained local personnel. During the times he was not working in developing countries, Phil travelled within New Zealand on projects such as the Gas to Gasoline conversion plant in New Plymouth, expansion of the Marsden Point oil refinery in Whangarei and the Ruahihi hydroelectric project in Tauranga.
Phil moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1987 initially working on the electrification of the Eumundi section of rail line before taking a position with Cardno Engineers working on numerous urban development projects throughout the Sunshine Coast. During this time, he became heavily involved in the engineering design and construction supervision of the Greg Norman Golf Course in Pelican Waters.
In 2000 Phil accepted a position as Project Manager for the Henzells Group. Project Development has included the Ocean Ridge, Ridgehaven & Byee Developments in Aroona, together with ongoing commitments to the Pelican Waters Development.
As a family, he loves camping and bush walking (except if a good international rugby union game is scheduled). Phil also enjoys swimming laps at the Crown Plaza Resort and playing squash with friends to relax.
